Gratuity Recommendations

Tipping, of course, is a matter of personal preference, and the range varies from industry to industry. We find that in this particular business, clients can generally tip anywhere between 20% and 50% of the total bill. Use this as a starting point if you wish. It is not unusual, however, for our staff to receive gratuities above and beyond the norm for their outstanding performances. For more tipping guidelines, please consider at least a few things:

  1. Your satisfaction with the staff's performance and how their personalities fit with you and your guests;
  2. The amount of work that particular event required – a simple informal barbeque of burgers and salads for ten guests using disposables is quite different than a seated, plated and served five-course dinner for ten using china and crystal;
  3. This gratuity compared to a restaurant gratuity. Our staff performs tasks greater in number and variety than typical restaurant waiters and bartenders, who work with an entire team behind them. Our staff not only serves the food and drinks but, you will find, may also greet guests and hang coats, warm up and plate food, prepare platters, wash dishes, clean up after the event, put away leftovers, and throw out the trash and recyclables.
